Type Foundry TermsBeta

Font licensing used to be simple: one typeface, one price, done. Today foundries charge by company size, pageviews, or app count, add surcharges for logo use, and separate web from desktop. Staying on top of this avoids costly surprises and licensing gaps.

Pricing Model

Desktop and Web are usually bought together as one combined license, discounted as a combo.

Pricing basis
Desktop is priced by the number of font users; web by the number of domains and current web traffic. A combined Desktop + Web license is offered at a 75% combo discount. One license covers one legal entity for the mediums and numeric limits set at purchase.
Who licenses
Every font user must be covered by a license. Each license is valid for one legal entity only; separate entities buy separate licenses. Fonts may not be shared with clients — a client needs their own license.
