Type Foundry TermsBeta

Font licensing used to be simple: one typeface, one price, done. Today foundries charge by company size, pageviews, or app count, add surcharges for logo use, and separate web from desktop. Staying on top of this avoids costly surprises and licensing gaps.

Pricing Model

Desktop is counted per computer, web by unique monthly visitors per domain — expandable from your Optimo account.

Pricing basis
Desktop is licensed per computing device ("Licensed Unit") in the locations named in the order; web is measured per domain by the number of unique monthly visitors. Add users to a Desktop License or raise the web-traffic tier later from the Orders section of your Optimo account.
Who licenses
Every entity working with the font needs its own license. If an agency hires a freelancer or external contractor for a project using an Optimo font, each party must buy a license.
Everyone
Term
One-time purchase; expand users or web traffic later via an upgrade. All sales are final.
Perpetual

Additional Costs & Special Cases

Nearly every distinct use — social, merchandise, video, ads — needs its own license on top of Desktop.

Social media
Displaying the font on social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), for organic posts or paid ads, needs a Social Media License.
Own license
Merchandise
Displaying the font on physical products (t-shirts, promotional items, packaging, bottles) needs a Merchandise License.
Own license
Video / TV / ads
Streaming, TV, cinema, video ads, digital ad banners, and time-limited campaigns each have their own license (Streaming/TV/Cinema, Digital Ads, Campaign).
Own license
Logo / Trademark
Registering a logo that uses an Optimo font as a trademark needs a Trademark License; a Desktop License must be secured first.
Extension
Modification & prior use
Modifying the font (including via AI) is prohibited. Prior use without a license is charged retroactively plus a surcharge of at least 200%.
